AmeriCorps VISTA Defender Program

The Jefferson County Public Defender’s Office is now accepting AmeriCorps VISTA members for their AmeriCorps VISTA Defender Program. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: BSW enrolled in MSW program; Student enrolled in at least second year of MSW/JD program; Law student with a three-year practice card.


The AmeriCorps VISTA Defender Program provides students with benefits such as a monthly living stipend, tuition scholarship, and other benefits, while obtaining field experience in criminal court of Jefferson County. You must first apply to AmeriCorps VISTA before submitting your application to the AmeriCorps VISTA Defender’s Program. Please review the information below¬†for full information and steps to apply.
